First Swim

Add Image
We celebrated Memorial Day/Art's birthday with a dip in the pool and a poolside dinner of pork Art made on the grill lentils and rice for Laura and a cake that read "Happy Memorial Day Art" because he insisted we not celebrate his birthday. Everett had her first swim over at Marjorie and Art's. She had on her snazzy little swim diaper with the ruffles on the butt that our cousin Lisa gave her. Marjorie demonstrated how to splash and kick. She didn't cry, but she didn't exactly laugh either. Overall I'd say she didn't mind it.

May

It has been in the 90s most of the month so we've been inside most of the time, but we're managing to have fun. Put some carpet down in the play room, formerly known as the dining room, so we have a place to lay on the floor and play with Everett. She likes to look at books now and rolled from her back onto her front for the first time this month. She reaches for your face if you lay down next to her and she can hold and play with (suck on) toys now. She has a stuffed duck she likes and if she is grouchy or wakes up in the middle of a nap, holding that duck does the trick. Patrick is full time at work now and Laura went back to work at Shands part time on the 16th. Four hours a day isn't bad at all, especially since Grama watches Everett and brings her into Shands to nurse. We have it good! We had a few date nights and Grama and Grampa got some quality time with Everett. At her 2 month check up on the 10th Everett weighed 12 pounds 10 ounces, and was in the 97th percentile for height. By the end of the month she was almost 14! Oona had her baby shower the 15th. Maxwell is expected in mid July.

Laura's First Mother's Day

Had Mother's Day brunch with Mom and Dad and aunt Marjorie and Art. African violets for all three moms in honor of Grama. After brunch Patrick and Laura detailed Mom's Camry while she hung out with Everett. Finished off the day with dinner on the patio at Mom and Dad's.

Trip to visit Grandma Janet and Papa Bob

Meeting Great Grandma

Everett's first road trip! We drove through swarms of lovebugs on the way down to Arcadia, but Everett slept most of the way. Everett got to meet Papa Bob, Great Grandma and Uncle Boy. We relaxed and enjoyed the breeze down by the lake and out on their patio in the shade. Everett had her first golfcart ride and got lots of snuggle time with Grandma. Weezul, her dachshund, was a little jealous but he was sweet with Everett.

Patrick's Graduation

Patrick graduated from Santa Fe College on April 29th with an Associate of Science degree in Network Services Technology and a Certificate for Cisco. He was honored as a Santa Fe Scholar for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Everett wore her fanciest outfit: her lavender tutu. It
was 2 tough years, but he made it. No more homework! Yay!

April

April was busy and fun. Everett went to her first backyard party at Scott and Steph's, her first spring arts festival downtown with Tonya, and her first breakfast at Waffle House. Laura had a wonderful birthday. Started with a walk and breakfast with Jenny and Maggie and then birthday dinner at Blue Highway. We left Everett with mom for the first time and had dinner just the two of us. We celebrated my birthday with family at mom and dads the next day. Laura got approved to reduce her hours at work to 20 hours a week. Everett went on lots of morning stroller walks on the shaded path in Tioga and evening walks in the Moby. She can hold her head up when she's on her stomach and she can roll from her stomach to her back now. She gives lots of smiles and "talks" with all kinds of different little sounds. She even has a really dorky laugh! She looks at her hands now and loves trying to reach for hanging toys. Patrick finished his last classes and graduated! We celebrated early with dinner at Stonewood Grill after his last final. He was visited by the "Car Guy Fairies" the night before graduation and they left little easter eggs filled with money to spend on his poor neglected cars. He is excited to be done with school because now he will have more time to work on them.

3 weeks old

Mom and TJ visitied for 10 days and Dad came for the last 4 days. Had our first dinner out with Everett at La Fiesta. She slept through it so we were brave enough to eat out at Sisters, Flying Biscuit and BJ's to celebrate Dad's 60th birthday. Tried out lots of different slings and Everett was very vocal about her opinions of them. Seems to like the moby wrap okay (when she's asleep). We'll keep working on it. We went on lots of walks to Starbucks and walked the Devil's Millhopper. Patrick and Dad spent an entire day installing shocks on the SUV and now she rides like a cloud. Everett met Oona and Curtis and Scott for the first time and we had two nice visits with Oona and Curtis. Everett volunteered for the school of midwifery as a "healthy newborn" for them to learn the newborn exam. Patrick and I were invited to the question and answer time at the midwves cooperative prenatal classes for the next group of parents to be. I went to the mom's meet-up at the midwives office and met some nice women there. Everett is enjoying new girlie clothes from aunt Stef and cousin Lucy, especially the little sun dresses. She likes batting at the hanging toys on the play mat and spends more time awake now. She likes baths and laying on her changing table listening to music and looking at the picture cousin Hank painted. She weighs 11 pounds now.
